Lisa Doherty – Embassy of Ireland in Kenya Deputy Head of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires

Lisa Doherty is Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ireland in Kenya, and currently Chargé d’Affaires. She is the Head of Development and Trade at the Embassy, covering Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Eritrea.

Before joining the Embassy in October 2017, Lisa was Deputy Director of the Humanitarian Unit at Irish Aid in Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for four years where she managed Irish Aid’s humanitarian funding to NGOs and led Ireland’s humanitarian policy engagement.

Prior to joining the Irish diplomatic service, Lisa worked with UNICEF for over eight years in humanitarian response and development programming, including as a programme manager in Somalia, as a Cluster Coordinator in the Haiti earthquake response, as a regional advisor with UNICEF’s Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office and as an Education Officer with UNICEF Mozambique.

Before joining the UN, she worked in a number of roles with NGOs and the private sector in Ireland.

Lisa holds an undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Social Studies and French from Trinity College Dublin and a Masters degree in International Relations from Dublin City University.
