Following their defeat to The Rifles, BATUK FC recently hosted Nanuyki Sportiff.
Sportiff started the game strongly, keeping possession of the ball and hitting the post with a 20 yard shot.
However, after 20 minutes the team from the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) settled down and started to play on the front foot.
A period of sustained pressure saw BATUK FC won a corner swung in by SSgt Ellis and headed over the line by Cpl Farrell.
The score remained 1-0 to BATUK FC until half time and following the restart, Sportiff were put under more pressure, conceding a free kick on the left. Deadball specialist SSgt Ellis crossed the ball in and this time SSgt Butlin headed the ball past the keeper to double BATUK’s lead.
Midway through the second half, Sportiff won a penalty but was saved by Cpl Murray to keep the score line 2-0.
Both teams created chances during the remainder of the second half before Sportiff were awarded a second penalty in the last minute of the game which was converted, reducing BATUK’s lead to a solitary goal.
BATUK FC held on for the victory, which makes it 5 wins out of 6 for the British Army team.
