Warwick Rotary Club have donated £100 to support a project to restore vision to those living in poverty.
The ‘Avoidable Blindness’ programme helps establish eye clinics in India and Africa. It completed 117,000 cataract operations last year with work underway to set up more hospitals in Kenya, Nigeria and the Middle East.
Launched 20 years ago, thanks to local Rotary clubs and grant funding from Rotary International, 60 eye hospitals now provide free eye care to the poor, including cataract operations and medication.
Charity trustee John Miles returned to Warwick to update members and receive the donation on behalf of Global Sight Solutions and was praised by the Rotary club for his dedication.
