On Wednesday 21 August, former Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon welcomed Pendle MP and UK Minister of State (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) Andrew Stephenson to Somalia.
Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire and Andrew Stephenson discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations, political and economic development and support for the British government in Somalia, reconciliation.
Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre thanked the British government for the support and support of the Somali people and government.
Andrew Stephenson commended the government for its achievements in financial and political reforms, and reiterated that the British government is committed to supporting reform efforts, improving security and development.
The UK, one of the major donors to the country’s recovery efforts, has a long-standing relationship with the federal government of Somalia.
