Ambassador Quinlan learns about Irish Aid supported Action Aid programme in Kenya

Last Friday, Dinah Mueni and Erick Onduru from Action Aid met with the Irish Ambassador Fionnuala Quinlan in Nairobi. Erick shared details of the innovative women’s rights programme funded by Irish Aid with the ambassador.

In Kenya, Action Aid has constructed a Ksh7.5 million fully equipped safe house in Garissa for girls who are at risk of being victims of early marriage and female genital mutilation. This first facility of its kind to be set up in North Eastern region is located at Kamuthe Primary School and will be run by women activists in the area.

Action Aid Kenya have also established a Ksh4 million resource and protection centre at Marafa in partnership with Sauti ya Wanawake Magarini using funds provided by the People’s Postcode Lottery.
