After more than 30 years in the teaching profession, Portsmouth headteacher Sarah Sadler is retiring to concentrate on business interests in Kenya and spend time travelling.

She also hopes to indulge in her passion for sailing with plans to travel by boat down to the Mediterranean with her husband.

Sarah has been in charge of Highbury Primary School School for eight years during which time it has been ‘transformed’and the 54-year-old was joined by staff, parents, governors and former pupils near the end of the summer term for a farewell party.

She will not be leaving education altogether, though and hopes to continue training the next generation of head teachers through her role as a mentor with the National Professional Qualification for Headship.
