The board of the British Chamber of Commerce Kenya met with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair yesterday for a meeting during which they emphasized the importance of creating a conducive investment environment for oil, gas and renewable power sources with access to energy being an enabler of the Big 4 agenda in Kenya.
Yesterday, Mr Blair joined Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of ICT Joe Mucheru at Gearbox, one of Kenya’s leading innovation hubs.
While there, he met with a range of impressive entrepreneurs on the factory floor to hear how the Fourth Industrial Revolution can offer opportunities in advanced manufacturing.
Speaking during the visit, Mr Blair said: “Countries like Kenya are in the forefront of technological change, the question is how we mitigate and manage that change … what Gearbox is showing in a really practical way is how it can be done.”
Mr Blair was in Kenya for the memorial Service for Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore at All Saints Cathedral. Also attending the British businessman’s funeral were Vodafone Group CEO Nick Read and British High Commissioner Nic Hailey.
The Safaricom CEO passed away on July 1 after a long battle with Acute Myloid Leukemia (AML) and his body was cremated the following day at the Kariokor Hindu Crematorium.
