Yesterday, British Deputy High Commissioner Susie Kitchens visited Kajiado County to find out more about projects being run by the Department for International Development (DfID) as well as how UKaid is supporting the area and engaging with local political leadership.

While in the region, Ms Kitchens visited two schools supported by the DfID Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) which is working to transform the lives of over a million of the world’s marginalised girls through quality education and learning.

She saw how with UKaid support, the Discovery Learning Alliance (DLA) works to improve education outcomes for children at Enkasiti Primary School by providing digital content, training teachers and mobilising the community to address barriers to girls’ attendance.

At Isinya School she learnt about a UKaid funded project that provides satellite broadband and computer labs which allow students to use online programmes for tutoring in numeracy and literacy to improve their learning outcomes.
