The British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) Community Engagement Team have donated another set of desks to a local school, this time to Queen Star School in Nanyuki, with the kind assistance from Kirsty Butlin.

Kirsty has been fundraising on behalf of the school and recently raised Ksh57,000 to design and create a school uniform for the children as well as funding six weeks’ worth of food.

The team were warmly welcomed by the children and teachers who were delighted to receive their new desks. As a non-funded organisation, the teachers are volunteers and the school is entirely dependent on donations.

Posting on their Facebook page, BATUK said they “are huge fans of supporting the educational system in Kenya and were thrilled to be able to help the school by providing these essential pieces of equipment.”

With the school currently situated on private land which has to be vacated, Kirsty is now trying to raise Ksh4 million to purchase a new plot of land.
