Yesterday, Deputy British High Commissioner Susie Kitchens met Christophe Itier, High Commissioner for the Social and Solidarity Economy and Social Innovation with the Minister of State, Minister for the Ecological and Solidarity Transition at France’s Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition, to discuss the collaboration between the UK, France and Kenya on social entrepreneurship and impact investing.
50-year-old Itier began his career in the public sector, working in local authorities on issues of education and public health as well as secretary general of a social protection group.
He joined Deloitte as a senior manager to assist a number of associations in the social and medico-social sector and from 2010 and for 7 years, he was a director at La Sauvegarde du Nord, a medico-social association of 1500 employees and 200 volunteers supporting more than 34,000 people in difficulty annually.At the same time, he created an endowment fund for corporate patronage chaired by Louis Gallois, and became President of Mouves (Mouvement des Entrepreneurs sociales).
Monsieur Itier coordinated the development work of the Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS) component of Emmanuel Macron’s presidential programme and was appointed High Commissioner for the Social and Solidarity Economy and Social Innovation with the Minister of State, Minister for the Ecological and Solidarity Transition on September 6, 2017.
