Yesterday afternoon, the Director General and Chief Operating Officer at the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT), Catherine Vaughan, held discussions with Principal Secretary at the Kenyan State Department of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives, Republic of Kenya Dr Chris Kiptoo on the progress of the Trade Policy Agenda.
Ms Vaughan studied philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University and in addition to her role at the DIT, she is a member of the Government Finance Profession Leadership Group and co-chairs its People Committee.
Prior to joining DIT she was the Director of Finance and Business Services at HM Land Registry.
She is a Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) qualified accountant who originally trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and has spent most of her career in local government.
As Director General (DG) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Department for International Trade (DIT), she oversees the finance, analysis, digital and technology, human resources and commercial functions. The COO is a member of the Departmental Board and Executive Committee and chairs the Performance, Finance and Risk Committee and the Projects and Change Committee.
