UK Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya, Susie Kitchens, represented the UK yesterday at the first session of the UN-Habitat Assembly at the headquarters of UN-Habitat in Nairobi.

The special theme for the week long UN-Habitat Assembly is: “Innovation for Better Quality of Life in Cities and Communities” and the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) also endorsed “Accelerated implementation of the New Urban Agenda towards achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals” as the sub-theme.

During the first session, The Assembly are establishing the Executive Board of UN-Habitat and electing its members, to review and approve the UN-Habitat Strategic Plan 2020-2025 as well as reviewing the Progress in implementation of New Urban Agenda.

Member States of the United Nations are participating in the deliberations of the UN-Habitat Assembly which will also be attended by United Nations Agencies, Local authorities and non-state actors including civil society, youth and women group representatives, the private sector and the Academia.
