A team of York women are taking part in a unique challenge this weekend to raise money for mothers and babies in Kenya.
The Walk Like A Mum group will complete a 10 mile circuit around the city walls on Saturday, representing the distance Kenyan women have to walk to their nearest clinic whilst in labour.
Saturday’s walk, which sets off near Museum Gardens at 12pm is fundraising for the charity Child.org.
Team member Stephanie Solly is training to be a midwife and says the cause is particularly close to her heart, with the money raised being used to educate new mums with the health information and support they need to keep themselves and their babies safe and healthy.
Money raised will also go towards providing transport to and from the clinics to enable women to better access the healthcare they need.
