Operations have resumed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Terminal 1C following last night’s minor fire incident that affected counters 6 and 7 which currently serve departure flight operations by Etihad, Air Arabia, Rwand Air, Ethopian Airways and Swiss International Airlines.

The departure terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi has been closed after a fire sparked by a baggage system malfunction which forced authorities to evacuate passengers and staff.

In a statement, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) said no injuries were reported in the latest incident, which occurred just before midnight on Wednesday.

“All passengers and staff at the terminal were evacuated safely and the fire contained by the airport’s fire team,” it said.
