A student from Wroughton, near Swindon, has managed to secure sponsorship from a local estate agent to support her forthcoming expedition to Kenya, during which she will take part in rural community and conservation projects.
Millie Taphouse is planning to travel to Kenya for four weeks in 2020, but needs to raise the £3,860 necessary to cover her costs. After offering local businesses the opportunity to have their names on the t-shirt she will wear at all her fundraising events and on the expedition itself, Richard James Estate Agents were quick to offer her their sponsorship.
According to Millie, the aim of the trip is to “help improve living standards for communities in an ecologically sensitive and sustainable way.
“I will help to deliver a number of projects supporting the local community, wildlife conservation and the environment, and see first-hand the challenges that face rural communities,” she added.
Richard James Estate Agents’ Director Ross Sutton, who manages the Wroughton Office, said that the company had known Millie’s family since selling their last home and were very impressed “with her courage to take on the expedition and volunteer her time to help these communities in real need.
“We’re a people-first business, so we like to get to know the people we’re selling for, and develop a real relationship with them. So, when Millie approached us, we were delighted to be able to help,” he explained.
