Irish Embassy led delegation explore dairy production system project in Kenya

A delegation from the Irish Embassy, TechnoServe, Teagasc and Sustainable Food Systems Ireland, visited Mukurwe-ini Wakulima Dairy Ltd yesterday to see how the cooperative has transformed from milk aggregation to a processor integrating various beneficial aspects to smallholder dairy farmers.

Discussions later took place between the delegation and Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO) towards the development of a sustainable dairy production system project in the country.

Mukurwe-ini Wakulima Dairy Limited is situated in Nyeri County of the Central Province of Kenya. Founded in 1990 as a self-help group, the main objective was collecting members milk and marketing it to the milk processors.
