British Ambassador to Ethiopia visits Ethiopian Airlines crash site

Alastair McPhail, the UK Ambassador to Ethiopia, has visited the crash scene of the Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 which crashed on Sunday killing all 157 on board.

Among the dead were at least 9 Britons and an Irish national along with 32 Kenyans.

Speaking from the crash site, Mr McPhail said: “My heart goes out to everyone affected by this horrific accident.

“I have come here to reaffirm the UK’s support to Ethiopia and to speak to the investigating authorities,” he added.

The British Ambassador went on to say that he had received a briefing from British experts who were also at the scene.

“For our part, we will continue to work to provide all the support that we can to the families of the British victims both here and back in the UK,” he said.
