9 Britons now confirmed dead in Ethiopian Airlines crash after Foreign Office reveals mother and son were also killed

The British death toll from yesterday’s Ethiopian Airlines crash has increased by two after the UK Foreign Office confirmed a mother and son, who were dual British-Somali nationals were also on board the doomed flight.

Along with UN worker Joanna Toole, Polar explorer Sarah Auffet, and dual UK-Kenyan national Joseph Waithaka from Hull, it is also now understood Sahra Hassan Said and her son Nasrudin Abdulkadir died in the crash.

Ms Hassain Said’s siblings and nephew paid tribute to the mother and son on Facebook, with her brother writing: “May Allah have mercy on them.”

Another relative, Maxamuud Hassan, said: “We are feeling so bad right now. We have lost so much,” and revealed the pair had been travelling from Germany together.
