Gateshead machinery manufacturer completes Kenya contract

Gateshead-based manufacturer of metal decorating and coating equipment, Crabtree, has completed its contract with Nairobi metals and plastics packaging company Metal Crowns.

The British company were commissioned to provide a custom-built metal decorating machine that would enable it to reduce labour costs and increase output.

Established in 1979, Metal Crowns is one of the leading manufacturers of metal crown caps and tin cans in Kenya, working with international brands like Coca-Cola and Heineken. 

Crabtree Senior Director Alan Rutter said it had been great working with Metal Crowns to develop their capability. 

According to Michael Hart, Metal Crowns General Manager (printing), the Kenyan company were delighted with the level of service and attention to detail provided by the Crabtree team.

“For us, efficiency is the number one priority, so we tasked Crabtree with providing a machine that could deliver certain efficiencies in speed, accuracy and shorten the time to set the designs – this is exactly what they have delivered,” he said.
