The first caesarian delivery has been conducted at Lorugum Sub County Hospital in Loima by a team of specialists led by Dr Ekiru Kidalio.

With support from the UK’s Department for International Development (DfID) through UKaid, the hospital constructed and equipped a Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC) Centre which has helped to improve access to maternal health services in the Turkana area.

After congratulating the team on the delivery, Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok said: “This is a great result of investment to make specialized Healthcare accessible to Turkana residents in line with attainment of United Health Care (UHC).”
