British consular team ready to support UK nationals affected by Leopard Beach Hotel fire in Diani

The British High Commission in Kenya have said that members of their consular team will be on the ground to provide consular assistance to any UK nationals affected by the fire at the Leopard Beach Hotel in Diani, Kwale County.

Last night, fire fighters were battling to bring the blaze under control which is rumoured to have been caused by fireworks from a Hindu wedding which caught a makuti-thatched cottage and spread quickly, leading to 100 rooms being evacuated.

According to Msambweni OCPD (Officer Commanding Police Division) Joseph Chebusit said no injuries have been reported in the fire which is believed to have broken out around 9.30pm.
