The 2019 Unibet Premier League Darts, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation, begins tonight (on Thursday 7 February) at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle. The competition, which is the fifteenth edition of the tournament runs until Thursday 23 May with the Play-offs at The O2 Arena in London.

Michael van Gerwen is the three time defending champion after defeating Michael Smith 11–4 in the 2018 final.

The tournament format has been modified for this season. During the first nine nights (Phase 1) each player plays the other eight players once, and plays one match against a contender. The bottom player is then eliminated from the competition.

In the next seven nights (Phase 2) each player play the other seven players once. In a change from previous years, each player will only play once on each Phase 2 night; with the Phase 2 matches going from best of twelve legs to best of fourteen.

At the end of Phase 2, the top four players contested the two semi-finals and the final in the play-off week.

In Kenya, you can watch the action on Kwesé iflix and on Sky in the UK and Ireland.
