A serial paedophile who had young girls on his Facebook ‘Friends’ list from around the world, including Kenya, has been jailed after being incriminated by vigilante child protection groups.
In court, 24-year-old Patrick Wallis admitted four offences of attempting to cause a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity and two of attempting to breach a sexual harm prevention order between November 28 and December 2.
He had previously been handed a six-month suspended prison sentence, with a seven-year sexual harm prevention order, on November 26 last year after attempting to meet a girl under 16 following sexual grooming and attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity.
But just days after being spared prison, Grimsby Crown Court heard how Mr Wallis was trapped by two online child protection groups pretending to be girls aged 13 and 14 and was arrested again on December 2.
Wallis was jailed for 18 months and was given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. He must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Following the November hearing, local newspaper Grimsby Live looked on his Facebook account and discovered his friends list included school girls and women from at least 12 countries across five continents.
Only six of his Facebook ‘friends’ live in Grimsby while others were based all over the country.
His list also included a number of girls from around the globe, with their profiles indicating they live in Kenya, Turkey, Germany, Bangladesh, Thailand, Brazil, the Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, Ireland and seven US states.
