On Friday, Kenyan Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ababu Namwamba, held talks with Chris Trott, the UK special representative for Sudan and South Sudan.
They discussed implementation of the South Sudan peace process and agreed to the need to fully reconstitute the joint monitoring and evaluation commission plus support from the international partners.
Chris Trott was appointed UK Special Representative for Sudan and South Sudan in August 2016. Special representatives use their expertise to develop a greater coherent effort in making sure that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) works closely and effectively with foreign powers.
Speaking after the discussions, Mr Trott said it had been a “Very good meeting today with Ababu Namwamba.
“We discussed the implementation of the peace agreement for South Sudan and how the international community can best support it,” he added.
