77-year-old Kenyan born Tory peer Mohamed Iltaf Sheikh, who founded the Conservative Muslim Forum, has married former waitress Guli Muradova who is 45 years his junior at Lambeth Register Office in South London.

Lord Sheikh, who was born in Kenya and raised in Uganda, made his fortune in the insurance industry and was made a life peer in 2006.

Five years ago, it was reported that he had struck up a close friendship with Ms Muradova after they met at a café where she worked. However, the peer’s wife, Lady Shaida Sheikh became concerned with her husband’s relationship with the Uzbek student and confronted her in public.

Miss Muradova returned to Uzbekistan, but Lord Sheikh pursued her and asked for her hand in marriage.

After divorcing his wife of 25 years, Lord Sheikh and Ms Muradova were reconciled, and recently marked their wedding with a lavish celebration at the five-star Grosvenor House hotel in Park Lane.

The couple have also attended several official functions together at foreign embassies in London and on her website, Ms Muradova titles herself ‘Mrs Guli Sheikh’ and states: ‘Lady Guli became happily married to Lord Mohamed Sheikh in 2018 and she has a wonderful and trusting relationship with her husband.’
