This week marks Vincent O’Neill’s departure from Kenya after having spent four years here as Ambassador to Ireland’s newest Embassy in Africa.
In an op-ed published in The Star, the outgoing Ambassador said it has been “a privilege to have lived in, and served, in such a wonderful country where people are so resourceful, diversity is to be celebrated and a commitment to democracy firmly established.”
He also appeared on Kenyan television to discuss his time in Kenya over the last four years.
Dr O’Neill has also recorded his final Christmas message as Ambassador in Kenya in which he says:
“As I conclude my four years in Kenya, it’s been a fantastic experience for me. I love this country, I love the Kenyan people and may I wish you at this time a happy, safe Christmas and a prosperous 2019.”
Looking ahead, the outgoing ambassador said that the progress made between Ireland and Kenya will “continue into the future to strengthen political, economic and cultural relationship to the mutual benefit of both countries.”
