Gor Mahia’s British manager, Dylan Kerr, is expecting Everton to field a strong side when the teams meet tomorrow to play for the SportPesa Trophy.
Although this will be the second time the two sides will face it each other, it marks the historic first visit of an African side to an English Premier League stadium.
After the British coach took over Gor Mahia in 2017, his first game was against Everton FC in Dar-es-saalam, Tanzania. During his brief time at the club, he has already led Gor Mahia to retain the SportPesa Premier League title and won the SportPesa Cup twice.
Although Kerr expects his Kenyan Premier League champions to face a strong challenge at Goodison Park, he believes his side will surprise the Blues players and supporters alike with their ability.
For many of the Gor Mahia team, this will be their first trip out of Africa, although Kerr has already experienced playing at Goodison Park during his own playing career during a game in the old Central League against the Toffees’ reserve team.
The match kicks off a 7pm (GMT) / 10pm (Kenya time).
