2 Para Battle Group arrive in Kenya for Exercise Askari Storm

No sooner have the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) said goodbye to 1 Irish Guards Battle Group after completing Exercise Askari Storm, they are welcoming 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment (2 PARA) Battle Group to undertake the same rigorous training.

2 PARA is an airborne light infantry unit capable of a wide range of operational tasks, based at Merville Barracks, Colchester Garrison, England. Personnel regularly deploy outside the United Kingdom on operations and training.

After arriving in force, 2 PARA have hit the ground running with their different departments busily checking over the equipment that they will need to overcome the challenges that the Askari Storm exercise has in store for them.

9 Parachute Squadron, an airborne detachment of the Royal Engineers, have been preparing their stores in the Royal Engineer compound where they were preparing their stores, undertaking a thorough set of checks to ensure that they will be able to carry out the tasks, such as survivability, to support the other members of the Battle Group.
