Irish Guards complete BATUK’s Exercise Askari Storm

1 Irish Guards have completed their training with the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) after demonstrating their competence to the Director of Land Warfare on the Lolldaiga training area at the culmination of Exercise Askari Storm.

Last week, Major General Tim Hyams OBE visited the penultimate serial of the exercise, where the officers and soldiers of B and 2 Company dealt with a scenario of unrest in one of the villages.

The Irish Guards proved to be quick to react to an explosion and diplomatic in their approach to the public disorder that ensued.

Having completed their training, the Irish Guards will be able to enjoy the remainder of their time in Kenya before returning to the UK to make way for 2 Para Battle Group who will be next in line to face the challenges of the training exercise.
