Lime Recruitment fought off the challenge from fellow finalists A.M. Bailey to be crowned champions of Farm Africa’s annual Chefs’ Football Tournament, held at Birmingham’s Star City on Sunday.

This is the sixth year of the 5-a-side competition which sees football teams from some of the UK’s top restaurants coming together to support farmers from Kenya and other countries in East Africa.

All money raised from the tournament will go towards supporting Farm Africa’s work to reduce poverty by helping farmers in eastern Africa to grow more, sell more and sell for more.

The tournament was organised by award-winning chef Paul Foster, a long-term supporter of Farm Africa who has raised thousands of pounds for the charity over the last decade. Initially, the event was set up to generate support and sponsorship for Paul’s attempt to climb Kilimanjaro with fellow chefs.

Last year’s winners, Portland Restaurant, were not taking part this year, so teams including TRUEfoods, Adams Restaurant, Alderly Edge Hotel, AM Bailey, Bandana Monkey, Belmont Hotel, Casamia, Corpus Christi College, Flourish, Hampton Manor, John’s House, and The Wilderness & Ritter Courivaud battled it out with Lime Recruitment emerging as the eventual winners.
