Tottenham Hotspur will assess the fitness of their Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama after he missed the opening game of their US tour.
Wanyama missed four months action last season due to a knee injury and he has been instructed to rest again after fears it has returned.
Wanyama’s knee issues stem from a heavy knock in a friendly last summer and it took until December for the midfielder to be pain-free.
Club officials have explained that his absence from their 4-1 victory over Roma in San Diego was precautionary.
Staff were scheduled to carry out checks on Thursday to assess his condition and the midfielder was missed off from the team sheet to face Barcelona over the weekend.
