On Thursday, Canterbury Cathedral representatives gathered to present their nominated Open Gardens charities, UK based Kenyan charity Send a Cow and L’Arche UK Kent, with a cheque for £3,000 each.

2018 was a record breaking year for the Cathedral’s annual weekend with over 2,000 people attending the event.

During the spring bank holiday weekend at the end of May, five private gardens in the Cathedral Precincts were opened for visitors to enjoy the rare opportunity to see the variety of planting set against the historic homes of the Cathedral clergy.

In addition to wandering around the gardens visitors could view impressive displays of classic cars and birds of prey while many younger visitors enjoyed planting their own sunflower plant to take home at the end of their visit.
