Yesterday, UK High Commissioner Nic Hailey visited Gearbox in Nairobi, where he found out how young creative Kenyan innovators are designing products which meet local needs.
Executive Director Kamau Gachigi told Mr Hailey about some of the interesting products being developed at Gearbox from tanks which clean water using bacteria, to devices that will help end human wildlife conflict.
The High Commissioner also learnt more about Gearbox and the companies which are co-letting work space.

Gearbox is located in Nairobi’s industrial area and its 20,000 square feet space provides a network of like-minded individuals and businesses with the know-how and resources that enable innovations to be taken to the market.
Hot desks, shared workshops, a boardroom and event space are all available to businesses to use and its collaborative nature enables networking and a sharing of ideas along with opportunities for mentorship and incubation.
