Yesterday afternoon, the UK High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey, joined the UK Director for Trade Policy Group in the Department of International Trade for a meeting with Permanent Secretary for Trade, Dr Chris Kiptoo to discuss enhancing trade relations between the two countries.

Kenya and UK already enjoy strong bilateral ties, trade and investment relations. Currently, 210 British companies operate in Kenya with an investment in the country worth 2.5 Billion pounds.

Earlier in the day, Mr Hailey joined a discussion about the UK’s support for Somali refugees across East Africa with partners from the region.

He used the meeting to recognise the generosity of the region in offering sanctuary for those in peril on behalf of the UK who is providing $140 million to support the aid effort.
