Tonight’s episode of the detective drama prequel takes inspiration from an episode from Oxford’s real-life history, in which Nation of Islam preacher and civil rights campaigner Malcolm X was invited to speak at the Oxford Union in December 1964, less than two months before his assassination in New York.
Here, DS Endeavour Morse (Shaun Evans) struggles to negotiate escalating social tensions as a protest at a hair salon exposes rapidly escalating racial unrest in the heart of the city. Meanwhile, a murder at an Army base threatens to unveil long-held secrets within the regiment. Tonight’s episode also stars Roger Allam as DCI Fred Thursday and Anton Lesser as Chief Supt Reginald Bright.
Endeavour: Colours is scheduled for broadcast tonight (28 February) at 21.00 on itvCHOICE (DStv channel 123), with repeat showings on Thursday 1 March at 13.15, Saturday 3 March at 22.40, Sunday 4 March at 15.15 and Monday 5 March at 01.30.
