This Friday (September 15), J’s Fresh Bar and Kitchen in Karen are welcoming Ugandan born vocalist Feridah Rose to their latest Unplugged acoustic music night.

Born in Uganda, Feridah grew up with both the vocal and musical traditions of East Africa and those of the church’s gospel singing.

After moving to Denmark as a teenager, she continued her musical journey by leading a gospel choir. Today she combines these twin influences with a rich variety of modern styles to create an infectious, exciting and very personal musical expression.

She followed up her debut the EP ‘Game of Love’ in 2012 with the single ‘Kyelondela’ – a tribute to her homeland recorded back in Uganda with one of the country’s most popular songwriters, Sylver Kyagulanyi and legendary local hit maker Paddy Man behind the desk.

This was the first song she sang in her mother tongue and set the direction for her 2017 release ‘Njalaba’ where she fuses her influences both musically and lyrically into a sound with strong roots and a modern vision.

Friday’s performance begins at 8.30pm. Entry is free and you can make a reservation by calling 0718 607 197. You must be 23 and over and proof of identification may be required.
