A team of British vets from Ripon in North Yorkshire have taken part in the 2017 Micklegate Soap Box Challenge 2017 to raise money for Send A Cow, which provides aid in 7 African countries, including Kenya.

The Bishopton Veterinary Group consisting of Ian Reagan, Phil Alcock, Mark Spilman, Neil Eastham and Leanne Ford finished in 4th place out of 51 in the race held on Bank Holiday Monday at the end of last month.

Micklegate Soapbox Challenge takes place in the centre of historic York with the carts racing down a 5 Metre start ramp before hurtling down the ancient cobbles towards Ouse Bridge.

To date, the team have raised £60 for British based charity Send A Cow, who have been working with some of Africa’s poorest families for nearly 30 years, helping over 1.3 million people work their way out of extreme poverty.

They provide livestock, tools, seeds and training as part of a programme giving people the hope and means to establish a future for themselves, their families and their wider communities.

Currently, the charity is delivering programmes in Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Uganda, Lesotho, and Zambia.
