The first get together for Welsh expats in Kenya proved to be a resounding success on St David’s Day last week.
Lowri Rees had tirelessly tracked down as many of her fellow Welsh expats as possible, who may be interested in helping to start up a Welsh Society in Kenya, and the open invitation to the get together in order to brainstorm some ideas on how the group might work paid dividends.
Around 16 people answered the call, along with friends and partners, for the St David’s Day celebration at J’s Bar and Grill in Nairobi last Wednesday.
During the meeting, the expats agreed to arrange regular monthly informal get-togethers, and have set up a WhatsApp group to help them keep in touch.
To make Saint David’s Day a special celebration, the group are also planning to arrange a more formal annual function.
If you are a Welsh expat living and/or working in Kenya and would like to become involved with the group, please email Neil Roberts for details.
