Sauti Sol provide the entertainment as British Council Country Director for Kenya weds

Kenyan band Sauti Sol were on hand to provide the entertainment as the British Council Country Head, Tony Reilly married his fiancé Sharon last night (Saturday 7 January).

The wedding celebrations in Nairobi were hosted by UK High Commissioner, Nic Hailey.

The Kenyan afro-pop band have a long association with the British Council in Kenya and are the organisations World Voice Ambassadors.

They were formed in Nairobi in 2005 by vocalists Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano and Savara Mudigi in 2005, and have had successful tours in Africa and Europe.

Sauti Sol have also received both local and international accolades and nominations including; Kisima Music Awards, Channel O Music Video Awards, MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act and BET Awards 2015.

Tweeting from the wedding, Sauti Sol send the newlyweds their best wishes, posting: “A big congratulation to the newly weds @tonyreilly5 and Sharon. We wish you nothing but a long happy life in matrimony.”

Wedding guests were also entertained by Nairobi Horns Project’s MacKinlay Mutsembi.

MacKinlay is a versatile multi-instrumentalist whose sound has been influenced by his love for hip hop, jazz, Afro-Cuban, classic brass band and African music, and an able arranger and orchestrator.

He has been part of various musical projects and tours including Out Of Africa tour, Coke Studio, Safaricom Jazz, Hakuna Matata among others.
