Amazon Prime launches in Kenya offering cheaper subscriptions than Netflix

Following Netflix into the digital streaming market, Amazon Prime Video has launched in Kenya.

According to Amazon, Prime Video is now available to 200 countries worldwide.

Signing up to the service will allow you to watch the content on desktop, smart TVs, smartphones or tablets running iOS or Android via the Amazon Prime Video app.

The service costs Ksh 299 for the first six months and thereafter it will cost Ksh 599. New users will also be offered a 7 day free trial.

Top Gear fans will be pleased they can finally watch former hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in their new motoring show, The Grand Tour, along with other original programmes such as Goliath and The Man in the High Castle.

Amazon Prime Video will compete with ShowMax which costs Ksh 330 for select, Ksh 880 for premium and Netflix which costs Ksh 799 for Basic, Ksh 999 for Standard and Ksh 119.90 for Premium.
