This Saturday’s (12 March) live English Premier League broadcast on KTN is the fixture between Bournemouth and Swansea which kicks off at 6pm (Kenya time).
Recent performances should have guaranteed Premier League survival for both of these sides (they are 100/1 and 33/1 to go down) which is a commendable achievement, especially for the Cherries who looked certain of the drop early on this season when a string of significant injuries blighted their early part of the season.
However, neither manager will view the job as being done just yet though, with Eddie Howe will be keen to build on his team’s impressive win at struggling Newcastle before a difficult run of fixtures which will see his team take on Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton, Manchester United and Manchester City with their other two remaining fixtures seeing them up against Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion.
Swansea’s form has improved from when the teams drew 2-2 at the Liberty Stadium in November but their surprise defeat of Arsenal was only their third on the road in the league and goes some way to explaining their 7/2 price tag.
Neither side has had the luxury of relying on one or two particular outlets for goals with Andrew Ayew and Gylfi Sigurdsson (including six in his last 10) netting eight apiece for the visitors while 12 players have contributed for the Cherries but none more than the five scored by Callum Wilson in seven games before his untimely injury.
One bright point in Swansea’s season is the form of Benik Afobe who has made the step up from Championship Wolves in style with four goals in nine games.
