There was emotional goodbye for head of the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) last night, as friends and colleagues said “kwaheri” to Lisa Phillips who is leaving her post to take up her new post as the Governor of St Helena, Ascension & Tristan da Cunha.

Speaking at the function, the UK High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey said: “What drives Lisa is changing lives.”
Lisa Phillips has been Head of DFID Kenya since July 2013.

Prior to this, she was Head of Director’s Cabinet in the Policy division.

She has also had a brief stint in FCO under the FCO’s Migration Directorate where she worked as a Returns and Reintegration Fund Manager in charge of Leading and managing a cross government (FCO, DFID, MoJ, Home Office) Returns Fund.
She will be succeeded as head of the DFID in Kenya by Pete Vowles and we would like to thank Lisa for all her hard work and dedication during her time here and wish her the very best for the future.
