Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Italian volunteer doctor Rita Fossaceca.
The 51 year old radiologist from Novara, who was a frequent charity work visitor to Kenya, died and three other Italians were injured during an armed robbery on Saturday (28 November) in the village of Mijomboni which is located less than 20 miles inland from the resorts of Malindi and Watamu.
Italian news agency Ansa reported today (30 November) that police spokesman Charles Owino told them that three people had been arrested over the murder.
It is believed that the injured Italians were Fossaceca’s parents and another relative. The doctor was reportedly shot dead while trying to defend her mother from a machete attack.
