Somalia confirms Kenya did not encroach on their border land

After examining the border situation, Khalid Omar, State Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Somali government has confirmed that Kenya did not encroach on the border land of Somalia.

Kenyan had been accused of constructing a Security Wall along the entire stretch of the Kenya-Somalia border and thereby encroaching in the town of Beled-Hawo to protect against al-Shabaab attacks in its soil.

While briefing a cabinet meeting on Thursday, the cabinet minister said: “There were no signs of a wall construction on the side of Somali border zone by Kenya”.

Somali Minister of Defense of the Federal Government Gen Abdulkadir Sheikh Ali Dini who led the fact-finding committee which inspected the border said: “Our team saw no security wall building, but a hole dug on the boundary.”
