Sheridan Smith stars in new police drama, Black Work which begins tonight on itv CHOICE.
Smith plays PC Jo Gillespie whose husband Ryan, also a police officer, is shot dead in a derelict warehouse in the ruined backwater of a Yorkshire city which closely resembles Leeds.
Mysteriously though, Jo is gently but firmly coerced urged by Ryan’s boss (Douglas Henshall) to say nothing, even keeping her children in the dark about their father’s disappearance from their lives.
The murder is kept so deeply under wraps that only a tiny handful of Ryan’s colleagues knows about it.
While under cover (the “black work” of the title), Ryan was about to unmask a gang of gun runners. But she discovers some of his colleagues were suspicious about Ryan’s behaviour before his untimely death and Jo finds some of her own skeletons exposed.
Black Work is scheduled for broadcast on itv CHOICE (DStv channel 123) tonight (2 November) at 22.00 with repeat showings on Tuesday 3 November at 14.50, Saturday 7 November at 20.40 and Sunday 8 November at 01.15 and 13.20.
