On Sunday, the UK High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey, was among the guests of Conservation Friends who were hosting a farewell luncheon in honour of outgoing Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Natural Resources, Judi Wakhungu.
Tweeting from the event, Mr Hailey thanked Ms Wakhungu “for having made such a positive difference to this beautiful country of Kenya.”

She is preparing to take up her new role as Kenyan Ambassador to France, a position she was appointed to by President Uhuru Kenyatta on 26 January.
Professor Wakhungu is the daughter of former Kenyan Vice President Moody Awori. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from St. Lawrence University in New York in 1983. She also holds a Master of Science degree in petroleum geology from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada, awarded in 1986. Her Doctor of Philosophy degree in energy resources management from was obtained from Pennsylvania State University in 1993.
