Yesterday, the UK High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey met with Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma for bilateral talks. During the courtesy call, Mr Hailey congratulated CS Juma on her recent appointment to the head of Foreign Ministry.
A few days earlier, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson also spoke to the new Cabinet Secretary when he took the opportunity to congratulate her on her appointment.

CS Juma was nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta as Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs on 26 January 2018. Prior to her current position, she served as the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from 12 January 2016 until 26 January 2018.
She has a two degrees awarded by the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts. Her Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil) degree was obtained from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, where she also obtained her Certificate in Refugee Studies.
Tweeting after the meeting, Mr Hailey said it was a “great pleasure to see CS Juma in her new role and talk through plans for UK/Kenya work in 2018 including the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in London 2018.”
