Former Kenya High Commissioner receives gift from Sauti Sol

Doctor Christian Turner, the former UK High Commissioner, was delighted to receive a gift from award winning Kenyan band Sauti Sol in London yesterday.

The limited edition presentation box CD of their Live and Die in Afrika album was presented to Doctor Turner by the County Director of the British Council in Kenya, Tony Reilly.

The Kenyan band were recently crowned Africa’s Best Group at the MTV Africa Music Awards in South Africa on Saturday 22rd Oct 2016 at the Ticketpro Dome.

They were the only East Africans award winners at the ceremony which guaranteed the region with the Best Group MAMA title for the next year.

As well as winning the Best Group award, Sauti Sol were also nominated in the categories of Song of the Year, Best Collab and Artist of the Year.

This isn’t the first music award Sauti Sol have won as they were previously awarded with an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Act in Africa in 2014.
