Pete Vowles to replace Lisa Phillips as Head of DFID in Kenya

Current Head of Programme Delivery (Deputy Director) at the Department for International Development in London, Pete Vowles has been announced as the replacement for Lisa Phillips who is moving on to become the next Governor of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha.

In his present role, Mr Vowles has been leading reforms to transform the way the DFID design and deliver programmes.

Educated at Oxford University, his previous roles include Joint Lead in Transforming Programme Delivery, Deputy Head of DFID in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Head of Partnerships DFID in India, State Building Team Leader DFID Afghanistan, Head of Global Development HLSP and Team Leader of the Bangladesh Population and Health Consortium.

This April, after 3 years in London, he will be returning to country programmes when he moves to Nairobi to take over as Head of DFID Kenya.
