Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola isn’t the only celebrity to have spent New Year in Kenya, as American actress Kristin Davis has also been in the country for the holiday.

The Sex and the City star, who is also a patron of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, has been posting images taken during her trip to Tsavo on Twitter and Instagram, with the elephants clearly being very close to her heart.

This isn’t the first time the actress has visited Africa. During her 2009 visit, the  lifelong lover of elephants discovered an abandoned baby elephant and arranged for it to be taken to a wildlife rehabilitation centre.

In recognition of the attention she brought to the plight of orphaned African elephants, Davis won the Humane Society’s 2010 Wyler Award, which is bestowed on a celebrity or public figure who has made news on behalf of animals.

From one of her Tweets, it appears that she has been joined on her trip by fellow actress and Boston Legal star Lisa Kaminir (D.A. Valerie Murrow) who has also appeared in Star Trek: Voyager, Boston Public, ER, Without a Trace, The Practice, Grey’s Anatomy, Crossing Jordan, Shark, Dexter, Standoff, Eli Stone and Bones

We hope Kristin and Lisa have enjoyed their visit and trust it won’t be long before we are welcoming them back to our beautiful country.

  1. I think it’s wonderful when celebrities use their fame to promote good causes. TBH though, I didn’t know how passionate Kirstin was about elephant conservation and have a lot more respect for her now because of it.
